“As a how-to guide for teachers, this is a great resource. It gives a detailed account of how traditional school terms equate to gaming terms. If you want to find out ways to implement it for your classroom, then I highly recommend it!”

“I absolutely LOVED the content in this book!! The gamified reading flow, the examples, the chances for me โ€” the reader โ€” to earn XP; it was all incredibly engaging.”

“I was drowning in apathy, but after learning and implementing gamification, in about 2 weeks my students were arriving to class asking if it was a quest day. They wanted more work! The engagement is unreal.”

“Once you see the amount of effort he has put into this book โ€” and remember that he teaches full time and has a family โ€” it’s clear it’s worth at least that. It is very well organized, has great insight into the process of gamifying your classroom, with anecdotes from his experience and many potential solutions for the problems you would face. An absolute must read if you are serious about this approach to teaching.”

The Story

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ 17 years. One big idea.

Kids already play. Scott just builds the classroom around it.

Scott Hebert is a Grade 8 Social Studies and Sciences teacher entering his 17th year in the classroom. For the last decade he's been designing and refining his own gamification pedagogy โ€” turning ordinary units into quests, levels, and challenges that students genuinely want to finish.

He's the author of two books on educational gamification design, a two-time TEDx speaker, and an experienced keynote speaker who has shared the stage with educators around the world. His mission is simple: rekindle your joy of teaching by making learning feel like play.
